Well, I've gone & done it, quit my job that is. I know it seems a really counter-intuitive thing to do in the middle of a recession. Every news bulletin tells us in solemn, doom-laden tones how we're in an Age of Austerity. We're told times are tough, money is scarce ... but even so I feel I've done the right thing. I haven't got another job to go to, haven't got massive savings, but was faced with a drop in wages, a change in working hours & days, and a change in the content of the job. It all added up to something that would make work almost unbearable. I'd have been miserable and - well - life's too short, isn't it? I'm feeling optimistic, despite everything. Optimistic, a bit rootless, wondering what the future will bring. On the crafty side I'm looking at how I can make money through making stuff (hopefully in addition to finding some part time or temping work). I'm playing with ideas about patchwork cushions (the photo showing a rough prototype), possibly baby quilts, maybe try making fabric jewellery. I'm trying to stop myself getting side-tracked (she types, looking guiltily at a half dozen fabric flowers ... they were fun to make, okay!! ) and concentrate on saleable items.
Hi - I'm a (mumble mumble) year old singleton, living in South West England, in a cluttered flat with too many metres of fabric and too few biscuits in the tin!
